What's Next in Home Color Trends for 2014?

    Last updated 3 days ago

Color is an important decorating tool that can change the look and feel of a space. 2014 brings some fabulous color trends that can do wonders for your décor. Keep reading to learn more about some of the most popular hues for this season.

    New Neutrals

Instead of traditional neutrals, liven up your interior with one of the new hues that can serve as the foundation for your interior design. Camel brown and grey add depth and visual stimulation to your space without overpowering the room. They also look great next to brighter, bolder shades that you use in smaller doses.

    Lively Shades

Have some fun with your interior by incorporating some of 2014’s biggest and boldest hues. Radiant Orchid is a fun and fabulous color that can add texture to any room. Mix and match a few throw pillows, window treatments, or area rugs with a vibrant color like this to add some life to a room. Dazzling blue is another color that is bold enough to bring your home décor to a new level. Just be sure to use these bigger colors sparingly so you do not overwhelm the eye.

    Perfect Accents

Take your design possibilities up a notch with an accent wall in a color that catches some major attention. Choose a color like cayenne or hemlock as an accent wall for the living room, dining room, or even your bedroom to get a unique aesthetic appeal in your space.

No matter what your color preference, Denver’s Designer Fabrics has something great for you. Everything You Need to Know About Re-Upholstering Your Chairs and Sofas

    Last updated 17 days ago

New upholstery can completely transform the look and feel of any piece of furniture in your home. Instead of buying new pieces, consider re-upholstering the furniture that you already own to create something new and unique for your interior design. This guide will help you figure out the best way to breathe new life into your chairs and sofas with updated fabrics.

Your Furniture Should Be in Good Condition

Before you fully commit to the idea of re-upholstering, it is important to check on the condition of your furniture. If your chair or sofa is still structurally sound and feels comfortable when you sit in it, it is probably a good candidate for re-upholstering. Be thorough when examining the furniture to ensure that it will last for many more years.

You Should Work with a Reputable Re-Upholsterer

It is very important to do some research to find a company that will do a quality job of re-upholstering your furniture. Ask for referrals from friends and family and spend some time asking any potential re-upholsterer questions before you agree to work with them. This will give you confidence that they can provide the kinds of services and quality that you need.

You Should Figure Out Exactly How Much Fabric You Will Need

Get an accurate estimate of the amount of fabric you need to cover your furniture before the job begins. This will help you figure out the exact costs for the re-upholstery and give you a better idea of what to expect from the final outcome.

Denver’s Designer Fabrics offers some of the best re-upholstery services in the entire state to help you get the home décor that you want. Since 1981, we have offered some of the best design services in the Denver Metro Area. For more information about our products and re-upholstery services, visit us online or call (303) 872-9476.

How to Remove Red Wine Stains from Upholstery

    Last updated 24 days ago

Don’t let red wine ruin the aesthetic appeal of your upholstery. If you spill a glass of Malbec or Merlot on your beautiful fabric, use the following tips to remove it before it becomes a permanent stain.

The best chance you have of removing a stain is addressing it as soon as possible. Use a clean cloth to blot up any excess liquid. You can blot a little bit of cold water onto the area to try to decrease the severity of the color. If your fabric can handle water, combine one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid and two cups of water. Use a sponge to dab the mixture onto the stain and blot it until it is gone. If you cannot use water on the fabric, you can use a dry-cleaning solution to get rid of the spot.

If your upholstery has seen better days, come to Designer Fabrics to re-upholster with fresh, new fabric. We also have a great selection of window treatments to complete your décor. Serving the Denver Metro area since 1981 and located in Centennial, Colorado, we bring you the selection and services you deserve. Call (303) 872-9476 to learn more.

Making Bold Upholstery Fabric Work in Your Décor

    Last updated 1 month ago

Bold patterns make a big statement for an interior design, especially if you use them in the right way. Choosing bold upholstery fabric is a great way to add depth and texture to your space. Use the following tips to add these patterns to your room without overwhelming the décor.

Make the Furniture the Focal Point

Since bold patterns immediately catch the eye, you should try to design the rest of your room around these patterns. Use understated design elements in the rest of the space to make your newly upholstered furniture the focus of attention.

Complement the Pattern with the Rest of the Room

If you want to make a huge statement with your interior design, you might consider painting the walls to complement the pattern on the fabric. Playing with color in such a big way allows you to make a truly unique statement with your décor. If you want your space to be full of personality, consider utilizing a cohesive color scheme throughout the room.

    Mix and Match Patterns

Your room does not have to perfectly match to have a great interior design. Consider using a few different bold patterns throughout the room to make a bigger statement with your upholstery. Throw pillows are a great vehicle for mixing up the visual flow of your upholstery fabric. You might even want to include some curtains or drapes with a different pattern that helps you complete the look of the room.

Whenever you need something new for your décor, Designer Fabrics is here for you. With one of the best selections of fabric, upholstery, and window treatments, we make it easy to create your ideal décor.
